The Sony Walkman Mp3 players have always been about one thing and that has been the ability to take on their rival iPod and recreate the success story that was the original Walkman.

This is why Sony has launched its new Walkman NW-S200 series. Here's a quick look at what it has to offer.

Vital statistics: The NW-S200 series is 9.7 cm by 1.5cm, weighs 25.5 grams and is encased in a seamless cylindrical splash proof aluminium body, all impressive in their own right.

Calorie Counter: This is the dynamic bit: The NW-S200 has in-built G-Sensor technology, which can be used to count your steps, calculate the calories you've burned and distance you've traveled like a modern day pedometer.

It also has a 'Music Pacer' feature that detects your pace and activates a preset music playlist accordingly. The NW-S200 senses motion change and accordingly adapts the music to a slow or a fast tempo, which comes in handy when working out.

The Music Pacer can even set targets by steps, distance or amount of calories to be burnt. The music stops when the goal is reached. It also allows you to track the performance of your workouts up to a history of seven sessions. So, you can actually lose weight by buying it as the ad copy says!

Music: This series plays music in MP3, ATRAC, WMA and AAC formats. With a 5-band equaliser, you can adjust the sound by selecting any of the available pre-sets or adjust your own using the custom setting.

Available in one or two gigabyte capacities, it can store up to 260 MP3 songs on the 1GB NW-S203F and an impressive 520 MP3 songs on the 2GB NW-S205F. So if you want a fully featured music player that exudes style, then there's only one choice tough you'll have to make.

To shuffle between various music playlists, you need to give the instrument a triple shake.

Battery life: The NW-S200 is equipped with a Rapid Recharge feature, which helps provide three hours of battery life from only three minutes of charge time. The models from this series can last for up to 18 hours between charges.

Menu: The 'Jog-Dial' allows easy scrolling through different options including play modes, sound settings, equaliser settings and even the sports timer.

Hot accessories: The NW-S200 comes with a sports style armband and headphones. The headphones feature premium Neodymium magnets and an Acoustic Twin Turbo circuit, to give a more powerful, clear sound and reduce distortion and noise.

The NW-S205F has a memory capacity of 2 GB, can hold up to 520 Mp3 songs. Colour options are black or silver.
